Participant Requirements

Before taking a module, each participant will be asked to:

  • Undertake a brief self assessment exercise which will help the participant to decide if the module would meet their specific learning needs
  • Be familiar with the terms, concepts and wider policy discussion covered in the Academy handbook
  • Read a module-specific background paper
  • Submit a short proforma about themselves, their commissioning group and their commissioning priorities

After each module, participants are encouraged to complete a short, web-based exercise designed to apply and consolidate learning from the taught session.

  • To offer training for practice based commissioning that is grounded in practical examples and case studies
  • To build an understanding of the skills required for effective commissioning and to start to develop those skills.
  • To give participants a broad understanding of the policy context in which PBC is operating (via Academy handbook)
  • To ensure participants understand the terminology associated with PBC (via handbook)
  • Introduce local PCT staff/PBC leads with expertise in the module subject
