Michael Sobanja, Chief Executive NHS Alliance
With more than 25 years of management experience in the NHS, he is a qualified member of the Institute of Health Care Management.
Michael Sobanja is a Non Executive Director of Health Direction Ltd. He is also Chief Executive of the NHS Alliance and a Board member and Treasurer of the European Forum for Primary Care as well as Chair of Health Equality Europe.
Julie Wood MIPD, MHSM, MSc
Julie Wood has worked in the NHS for nearly thirty years, the last sixteen of which she has spent in a variety of Director and Chief Executive roles. With extensive experience in planning and service development from a primary care perspective, Ms. Wood has also been responsible for the commissioning of acute care with locality responsibilities for a population of over 200,000. In a former Director role she was responsible for setting up one of the largest GP locality commissioning pilots in the country. She has had extensive training and development as a national trainer, presenter, and facilitator and in 2000 she completed a postgraduate Masters in Social Science - Health Care Policy & Management degree.
Her most recent role was as Chief Executive of a midlands Primary Care Trust. During that time Julie was the Chair of a large Cancer Network, of the health community Medicines Strategy group, and of the Choose & Book Board. Ms. Wood has recently taken up a new national role with the NHS Alliance as its Practice Based Commissioning (PBC) Federation, and Chief Executives Transformation Network (CET Net) Director.
Amit Shah
Amit trained as a pharmacist from King's College London. Prior to joining Humana he was the lead on the National Community Pharmacy Contract, and Practice Based Commissioning (PBC) in Brent Primary Care Trust for 5 years. This involved implementing the pharmacy contractual framework, together with setting up a performance and governance structure for a PBC and a community pharmacy, developing local enhanced services, engaging practices in PBC through local incentive schemes, and development of new care pathways.
Amit holds a Bachelors degree in pharmacy along with a diploma in community pharmacy and primary care, PRINCE 2, Diploma in Management Studies, and is currently undertaking the Advanced Commissioning course via the Improvement Foundation. He is member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. He is an avid Liverpool football club supporter, and an enthusiastic traveller.
At Humana, Amit has specialised as the subject matter expert in practice based commissioning.
David Goldberg
David holds a masters degree in healthcare administration from the University of Colorado Medical Centre and has worked for more than thirty years in a variety of healthcare roles.
He began his healthcare career as the founding manager of a rural health delivery system in the state of Oregon. He then became director of rural health in the state New Mexico where he also held a clinical faculty position in family and community medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
David was consulted in the creation of the first multi-specialty group practice of physicians in the public sector in Auckland, New Zealand and was President and CEO or Physician Partners, Inc., a physician owned company that managed and commissioned for 600 physician practices. Recently David has been Dean of Sciences and Health Professional Programs for Portland Community College (a public college with 90,000 students) and Executive Director, Oregon Healthcare Workforce Institute - a research and policy organisation focussed on the future needs of the state of Oregon for healthcare workers.
David brings a wealth of experience working with physicians, healthcare policy-makers and managers.
